Invest in Westwold - Monte Lake

British Columbia, Canada

The community of Westwold is nestled in a small, rich farming valley about 55 kilometres southeast of Kamloops, just outside Monte Lake, which lies approximately 45 kilometres from Kamloops in the same direction.

Monte Lake is a recreational community located at the north end of the lake of the same name. It lies in a valley connecting the Thompson Country to the Okanagan region in the south-central Interior of B.C. The community of Monte Lake consists of a gas station and country store, RV camping sites, small ranches and farms and a transfer station which is operated by the TNRD.

Westwold is an unincorporated settlement in the Interior of B.C., and is a small farming and logging community. Interestingly, glacial tills near the townsite of Westwold have provided fossils from the Sangamon interglacial period 130,000 years ago.

There are a number of locally-owned retail shops in Westwold, ranging from cafes and diners to a local tourist attraction, the Country Christmas Store. There are also a number of turf farms throughout the Westwold and Monte Lake areas.

Recreational opportunities in the area include the Falkland and District Heritage Park and Museum, the Blacksmith cabin, the gypsum mine ruins, Pillar Lake, Monte Creek Provincial Park, fishing, hiking, and biking.
