Invest in Little Fort

British Columbia, Canada

Little Fort is a small community on the west bank of North Thompson River in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is located 95 kilometres north of the TNRD's major city centre, Kamloops, and only 30 kilometres north of another major city centre, Barriere.

Unlike many smaller North Thompson communities, Little Fort does not have a major employer. The economy consists of traditional businesses such as hay and cattle farms, restaurants, hotel, campground, pub, gas station, general store, craft store and fly and tackle shop. Little Fort's diversification can be seen in the unique businesses in the area such as a Trout Fish Farm, an Emu Ranch, a Fishing Resort and a Game Ranch.

The traditional businesses rely heavily on highway traffic. Little Fort is known as the "Hub of the North Thompson" because it is situated at the junction of Highway 24 and Yellowhead Highway 5. The amount of tourist traffic is sufficient that Little Fort has seen an increase in businesses and population over the last five years.

Naturally, agriculture and tourism continue to support the local economy.
