Increase your profits and efficiency by locating your business in Kamloops, B.C., the TNRD's largest city centre. It is the third largest city in British Columbia outside the Lower Mainland and the transportation hub of B.C.’s southern interior. The City and surrounding area offers an abundance of economic, social and lifestyle assets.

Kamloops' market advantages include being one of only two cities in Canada serviced by both national railways; being located at the intersection of Western Canada's four major highways; being home to one of Canada's fastest growing regional airports, the Kamloops Airport, and at least 25 trucking and transportation companies. Additionally, City of Kamloops is located only 350 kilometres from the province's largest urban centre, Vancouver.

The City of Kamloops provides an investment-friendly climate through a proactive municipal government ensuring fast processing of permits and licenses, as well as by providing investors with competitive development and business costs, and business start-up support and resources.

With a rich history of mining and forestry going back 100 year, Kamloops has a strong resource based economy. With recent growth seen in mining and the number of mining support companies, Kamloops is the service centre of the southern interior. Industries in the Kamloops area include Domtar Kamloops Pulp Mill, Tolko-Heffley Creek Plywood and Veneer, Lafarge Cement, New Gold Mine, Highland Valley Copper Mine (in Logan Lake), and others. Additionally, Kamloops is home to many regional and provincial head offices, manufacturers, exporters and specialty medical clinics.

Kamloops provides access to a well-educated and skilled labour pool of more than 54,000 workers. Thompson Rivers University (TRU), located in the City of Kamloops, serves a student body of 25,000 including a diverse international contingent. TRU, Open Learning (TRU-OL) is the biggest distance education provider in British Columbia and one of the biggest in Canada. TRU has over 2,000 graduates each year, most of whom are ready and able to join the local work force immediately.

Kamloops is home to an incredibly diverse landscape of sagebrush-covered hills, ravines, wide open grasslands, rugged mountains, forested valleys and pristine lakes. As a semi-arid ecosystem, its natural environment provides habitat for many unique plants and animals.

Through hot dry summers, mild winters and more than 2,000 hours of sunshine annually, complimented by over 200 lakes, provincial parks, 14 golf courses, a world-class ski resort, a thriving cosmopolitan centre and an array of sporting facilities, the City of Kamloops offers a high caliber quality of life to its growing number of residents.
